Summer is the perfect time to take a road trip with your family and make new memories. Before beginning your vacation, follow these tips to ensure your road trip goes smoothly!

1. Check The Air Pressure and Treadwear in Your Tires
No one wants to get stranded on the side of the road due to a flat tire (especially if you are traveling with children). Tire problems on your road trip can be avoided by inspecting your tires thoroughly. Before leaving for your trip, make sure your tires are properly inflated with correct air pressure. The correct air pressure may be found in your vehicle owner’s manual or on the tire placard. Another thing to check is the tread of your tires. You want to make sure you have more than 2/32 remaining tread depth (if not more). Use the penny test to check the tread. Check out some more tire care tips here

2. Download Summer Travel Apps
There are some very handy summer travel apps available to take advantage of. They can help you stay on track and save money. Waze and GasBuddy are two wonderful apps to have on your phone when embarking on a road trip!

3. Fill Up with Gas
This seems like common sense, but some people forget to get a full tank of gas before getting on the road. Filling up your gas tank before getting on the road can give you a long range of time before you have to stop again. Checking your GasBuddy app to find the best price in the area can also help you save money.

4.Check Fluid Levels
Maintaining the proper fluid levels should be done anyway, but you definitely want to make sure your fluid levels are full before a road trip. The most important fluid level to check is your engine oil. If it’s low, you should bring your car in for an oil change or service before your trip. While you are checking your oil, take the time to check your windshield wiper fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid.

5. Pack an Emergency Kit
In case of an emergency, you definitely want to be prepared with an emergency kit. Emergency kits can include a wide range of things but some very important things to include are first aid supplies, a flashlight, jumper cables, tire gauge, tow strap, warm blanket, water, snacks, and a utility tool.

6. Purchase Roadside Service
Investing in a roadside service like Best Roadside Service can be very beneficial. They can provide you with things like emergency oil, fluid, and fuel delivery, towing, battery jumpstart, flat tire service, and lockout and lost key service.

Tires can be an expensive purchase to make. However, there are many ways to save money through coupons, deals, and contests. Mavis Tire offers many different deals to ensure that customers receive quality tires at a discounted price.
